I am interested in being considered for the Eric D. Meyer Poetry Scholarship
If you're applying for the Eric Meyer Poetry Scholarship, on the application page's "Essayβ tab, scroll down the page after pasting in your essay and check the box under "Poetry Scholarship."
Note: You will also need to send in 10 pages of poetry to Dr. Andrea Gazzaniga at gazzanigaa1@nku.edu. The application provides you the option to upload or type in your poetry, but sending them directly to our department ensures that your poems will be formatted correctly.
Are you applying for the English Department Scholarships?
Then, if you wish to apply for multiple scholarships that the English Department has to offer, check the box under "English Department Scholarships," and you will be considered for those as well. By doing this, you will only need to fill out one application. If you click those two buttons, your applications will be sent to us.
This scholarship was established in 2004 by the family of Eric D. Meyer as a gift in memory of their son. Eric was an ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½Σ³» student at the time of his death and possessed a strong passion for poetry. The university received extensive contributions in Eric's memory, and friends sponsored numerous fundraising events in support of the scholarship.
Note: This scholarship requires the submission of 10 pages of original poetry to either Dr. Andrea Gazzaniga at gazzanigaa1@nku.edu or to english@nku.edu in addition to the application filed with the Office of Financial Aid.
This award was created and endowed in memory of Dr. Danny L. Miller, who began teaching at ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½Σ³» in 1981 and served as Department Chair from 2000 until his death in 2008. While Danny Miller had many passions in life -- including Appalachian literature, his family, his friends, and genealogy -- one of his proudest accomplishments was creating the ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½Σ³» English Department graduate program. Danny Miller ardently believed in the power of humanities education to change lives.
