July 25, 2023 - ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½Σ³» has received a grant from the Villa Albertine, a new French institution for arts and ideas in the United States, to host the Albertine CinΓ©mathΓ¨que Film Festival on ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½Σ³»βs campus throughout the spring 2024 semester.
βThe Albertine CinΓ©mathΓ¨que Film Festival continues the commitment of ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½Σ³» to foster international cinema education as part of the universityβs ongoing efforts to internationalize and diversify our curriculum,β Dr. Caryn Connelly, chair of the Department of World Languages and Literatures, said. βThe Celebration of French Film provides our students and the greater community a chance to watch and discuss a range of both contemporary and classic French cinema as a means of raising awareness and understanding of the global community.β
During the film festival, a slate of films will be shown, followed by a discussion of the film, moderated by an ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½Σ³» professor from the Departments of World Languages and Literatures and English. The showings are free and open to the public in the ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½Σ³» Griffin Hall Digitorium.
A full schedule of films and discussion moderators will be released at a later date.
